The mountain bike tour of Misti volcano is open to all mountain biking enthusiasts and adventurous travelers who want to enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains and countryside of Arequipa.

Our company started our adventure and biking tours in 2015, but our experience in touring began in 2003. Today, we are the most recommended adventure travel operator in Arequipa.
The volcanic land of Arequipa offers a great landscape and location for mountain biking throughout the year, especially between December and April. During this time of the year, the mountain appears white and green, and mysterious clouds can be seen resting on the top of Pichu Pichu and Misti volcano. We offer the best downhill and cross-country biking action on the best mountain bikes available, with the support of a 4x4 SUV and an experienced English-speaking guide.

Itinerary

We will start from Arequipa at 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. from our local office in Arequipa and then board one of our support vehicles and drive for 2 hours along a winding uphill dirt road, obtaining an impressive view to drop us off on the slopes of Pichu Picchu mountain.
The highest point we will reach is 3650m and known as Boques de Queñuas (Polylepis) located on the slopes of Pichu Picchu mountain. At this point, you get an incredible view of the entire Chiguata and Mosopuquio valley, filled with pre-Inca terraces used for agriculture, and, of course, a view of the south face of Misti volcano (5825m). You will then receive a safety briefing regarding the route and mountain bikes (gears and brakes). The bike ride includes a pleasant downhill and cross-country style on a gravel road to the bottom of the valley. This trip also offers a great singletrack section for experienced cyclists (about 6 km long and available upon request only at the time of booking), passing through agricultural fields, observing local people in their daily activities, small rivers, and springs. Some days, fortunately, it is possible to encounter large herds of llamas and alpacas grazing.
The last section will be a 31 km downhill bike challenge on an asphalt road to enter the city. The full bike ride lasts approximately 5 hours, and you will be dropped off at our office to conclude the tour.
Note: The bike tour itinerary may be modified at the last minute depending on the participants' experience level or according to the weather conditions during the rainy season (December - April), or any social event in the area.
