Day 1 – Floating Islands of the Uros – Amantani Island

At 7:45am we pick you up at your hotel and head to the port, from where we travel 2 hours to one of the Uros islands. This adventure will give you the opportunity to observe the lives of the Uro tribe who are living on small floating reed islands. The islands are made from the totora reeds, which provide home and transportation for their residents. After a 1.5 hour visit we head on to Amantani Island where we will stay overnight. The boat ride takes around 3 hours and you will see amazing Andean mountain ranges. Upon arrival we are welcomed by the local families with whom we stay for the night to get to know their culture. Amantani Island is not yet exploited by tourism, which means this will be a very authentic experience. After some time to relax we walk up to the highest point of the island to see the Inca temple Pachamama and Pachata while enjoying an amazing sunset before heading back for dinner to our families.

Day 2 – Amantani – Taquile Island - Puno

After having breakfast with the local families we descent to the port of Amantani and take a boat towards to Taquile Island, an UNESCO Heritage site, which is known for its handwoven textiles and clothing which are regarded as some of the highest quality handcrafts in the country. We spend 2 hours on Taquile and you will be surprised that the knitting and weaving is only done by men. By 5pm we arrive at the port of Puno from where we transfer you back to your hostel.
